The proposal for Lawson´s Quay East includes the opportunity for a major hotel scheme at the gateway to Lancaster City Centre and at the heart of the surrounding district.
At present, Lancaster needs a 3/4 star hotel to meet the demand for quality accommodation from the tourism, business and academic sectors. Lawson´s Quay, at the junction of the A6 Trunk Road with the A589 to Morecambe and the A683 to the M6, is well placed to meet this demand and within ten minutes walk of the city centre and its facilities.
The free-standing hotel tower addressing the prominent corner of the site will act as a landmark at the gateway to the city centre and will be seen from afar.
The remainder of the site will accommodate a multi-storey car park, partly for hotel use, shops and a business village above providing smaller individual offices and larger premises for a corporate client.
The current proposal allows for 120 rooms over 7 floors together with reception, restaurant and lounge..
The upper floors will provide spectacular views of Lancaster, its castle, the River Lune and beyond to Morecambe Bay, the Lake District and the surrounding areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The proposal allows for the detailed plans to be developed with the hotel operator to incorporate the operators specification.
